Root Canal Treatment
in Howrah — without the fear.

That throbbing toothache is not going away on its own. The infection inside your tooth is growing. Root canal treatment stops it — and saves the tooth. Dr. Rohit Singh performs painless RCT using rotary endodontics at Creative Smiles, Shibpur.

⚠️

If you have a toothache that keeps you awake, sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers, or a swelling near a tooth — do not wait. An untreated infected tooth does not heal itself. The infection spreads, the jawbone weakens, and eventually the tooth cannot be saved. Root canal treatment stops this — but only while the tooth is still treatable.

Understanding the Treatment

What actually happens inside your tooth

Every tooth has a soft inner core called the pulp — nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When bacteria reach this pulp through deep decay, a crack, or repeated trauma, the pulp becomes infected and inflamed. This is what causes the severe, relentless pain many patients wait months to address.

Root Canal Treatment removes the source

RCT cleans out the infected pulp, disinfects the canal system, and seals the tooth permanently. The tooth stays in place, functional, and pain-free. It looks and works like a natural tooth — especially once a crown is fitted over it.

What root canal treatment does not do: it does not remove the tooth. It saves it. Extraction is the alternative — and extraction creates a cascade of problems (bone loss, shifting teeth, need for implants or bridges) that cost significantly more to fix.

Who needs root canal treatment?

  • !Severe toothache — especially worse at night or when biting
  • !Prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold that does not go away within 30 seconds
  • !Swelling or tenderness in the gums near a tooth
  • !A persistent pimple or boil on the gum (dental abscess)
  • !Tooth discolouration — particularly darkening
  • !Deep decay detected on X-ray reaching the pulp chamber
  • !Pain that started mild months ago and has slowly grown worse

Consequences of Delay

What happens if you wait

Dental Abscess

The infection forms a pocket of pus at the root tip. This causes extreme pain, facial swelling, and can spread to the jaw and neck — a medical emergency.

Bone Loss

Chronic infection destroys the supporting bone around the tooth root. Once bone is lost, it does not regenerate fully — limiting future treatment options.

Tooth Loss

When infection destroys enough structure, the tooth cannot be saved by RCT. Extraction becomes the only option, followed by implant or bridge placement.

Higher Cost

A root canal today costs a fraction of what extraction + implant costs tomorrow. Every month of delay narrows your options and increases the bill.

Our Protocol

Two visits. Thorough disinfection. Long-term results.

Dr. Rohit Singh follows a deliberate 2-visit protocol — not because it takes more time, but because it produces better outcomes. Each visit has a precise purpose.

Visit 1

~60–90 min

Diagnosis & Biomechanical Preparation (BMP)

We begin with a digital X-ray to map the root canal anatomy. Local anaesthesia is administered — you will feel nothing. Using rotary nickel-titanium files, Dr. Rohit Singh cleans, shapes, and thoroughly disinfects the canal system. A medicated dressing is placed inside the tooth and it is sealed with a temporary filling. You leave pain-free.

Visit 2

~45–60 min

Obturation — Permanent Canal Sealing

After confirming the infection has resolved, the canals are dried and filled with gutta-percha — a biocompatible rubber material that seals the space permanently. The tooth is then restored. A crown is strongly recommended to protect the treated tooth from fracture — Dr. Rohit Singh will discuss this with you at this visit.

Why two visits? The medicated dressing in Visit 1 eliminates any residual bacteria and allows the periapical tissue to begin healing. Obturating immediately without this step can seal bacteria inside — leading to treatment failure. The 2-visit protocol has consistently lower failure rates in peer-reviewed endodontic literature.

Technology

Why we use Rotary Endodontics

Not all root canals are performed the same way. The instruments used make a measurable difference in comfort, accuracy, and long-term success.

Faster & More Precise

Motor-driven nickel-titanium files clean and shape canals faster than hand files — with more uniform results and less procedural risk, even in curved or narrow canals.

😌

Less Post-Op Discomfort

Rotary files flex with the natural curve of the root, reducing stress on surrounding tissue. Patients report significantly less soreness in the days following treatment.

🎯

International Standard

Rotary endodontics is the accepted global standard for root canal treatment. Hand files are older technology — appropriate in some cases, but not the benchmark of a specialist.

Common Questions

Root Canal — answered honestly

Is root canal treatment actually painful?

+

No. The procedure is performed under modern local anaesthesia — you feel pressure and movement, but not pain. Most patients are surprised by how routine it feels. The pain you experience before RCT (from the infected tooth) is almost always far worse than the treatment itself. The fear of RCT is largely outdated — it belongs to the era before rotary endodontics and effective local anaesthetics.

Why does Dr. Rohit Singh do RCT in two visits?

+

Visit 1 cleans and medicates the canal. Visit 2 — usually within a week — confirms the infection has resolved before sealing permanently. This is not about taking longer. It is about not sealing bacteria inside the tooth. A properly completed 2-visit RCT has significantly better long-term outcomes than a rushed single-sitting procedure.

What happens if I ignore the toothache and don't get RCT?

+

The infection does not stop. It spreads to the surrounding bone, forms an abscess, and eventually makes the tooth impossible to save. At that point, extraction is the only option — followed by an implant or bridge, which costs significantly more. Many patients who delay come back needing far more complex (and expensive) treatment than a timely root canal would have required.

Do I really need a crown after root canal treatment?

+

In almost all cases for back teeth, yes. The RCT removes the living pulp that supplied the tooth with nutrients — the tooth becomes more brittle over time. A crown protects it from fracture under biting force. Skipping the crown after investing in RCT is one of the most common reasons treated teeth eventually crack and are lost. The crown is not optional — it is part of the complete treatment.

How much does root canal treatment cost in Howrah?

+

The consultation is ₹300, fixed. RCT fees depend on which tooth is involved (front teeth have fewer canals, back teeth have more) and the complexity of the case. Dr. Rohit Singh provides a complete, transparent cost breakdown after examination — before any treatment begins. Call 07059 123954 for a rough estimate over the phone.

Can I eat normally after root canal treatment?

+

After Visit 1, avoid hard or sticky foods on the treated side — the temporary filling can dislodge. Mild soreness for 1–3 days is normal and resolves with standard pain relief. After obturation and crown placement, the tooth functions completely normally. Most patients return to normal eating within a day.

That toothache has waited long enough.

A ₹300 consultation at Creative Smiles gives you a diagnosis, an X-ray review, and a full treatment plan — so you know exactly what you're dealing with and what it will cost. No pressure, no surprises.
